I saved some data from an old broken external hard disk drive, most data were lost though.

I completely forgout about this picture from a trip to the Transrapid Test Center back in 2009.

This is the Transrapid 09, the last generation, after the accident passenger rides were forbidden. This train also has no engineer anymore, it is controlled by the Test Center. That's why there is no windscreen.

The german government and ThyssenKrupp called the Transrapid a failure now, as the extension of the Transrapid route in China and projects in Spain, the USA and South America were canceled.

The Transrapid project has been stopped now and the Test Center in Lathen will be dismantled in spring 2012.

So China was the only country to fully implement the Transrapid, then?

Good idea, but unfortunately it takes takes (too) long time to understand that maglev and other magnetic levitation 'trains' are builded only for swank.

Why? Because it consume huge amount of energy (more than normal train) and costs of building a 'rail' are horrible, even for China.

And from the railfan view: WTF man? This is a electric train? Don't joke! Where are steel rails and wheels? Where are catenary, arcing pantograph and whizing inverters?

Another one that has no idea what he's talking about.

The Transrapid train does not consume huge amounts of energy, in fact it consumes 30% less energy than an ICE or TGV train at the same speeds.

The cost of building the track (guideway) for the Transrapid maglev is the same as building a track for the ICE or TGV.

The Transrapid maglev makes considerably less noise pollution than ICE and TGV.

The Transrapid maglev can't derail, making it very safe, especially in earthquake areas.

The cost of operating the Transrapid system, and the cost of upkeep are extremely low, compared to the ICE or TGV systems.

And most important, the Transrapid maglev accelerates and deccelerates much faster than the ICE or TGV and operates at a much higher commercial top speed (+500km/h), making it possible to essentially slash the ICE and TGV travel times in half.

Another one that thinks every 'cutting edge' technology solves every problem of our world. This is the same like mounting PV panels on Southpole just because they are 'eco', 'green' and modern.

Arguments good for the dumb masses and politicians. Especially this one about about derailment, something like 'Titanic is unsinkable'.
